Americans use 500,000,000 drinking straws every day.
The vast majority of these straws are not recyclable, and many of them end up in the oceans, endangering the lives of sea creatures, and working their way into the food chain.
On April 12th, the Health, Energy, Resiliency and Sustainability Committee (HERS) will discuss restricting the use of disposable plastic drinking straws in the city of Saint Petersburg.
That's where you come in! You can make your voices heard, so the committee members understand what their community wants and needs. Check out this handy PDF doc, that contains info on how to contact and communicate with your council member.
