Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a non-profit that believes in preserving the environment while inspiring the human spirit through leadership in the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of marine life; environmental education; research; and conservation.
By teaching children and adults the importance of conservation, ecology and stewardship, they believe they will apply this knowledge to make sustainable choices and take an active part in preserving our marine environment.
As the local facility that monitors turtles and their nests to ensure they are protected until hatching and making their way to the ocean, they are in charge of the local intakes of turtles that have ingested plastic pollution among other dangers and are fighting daily to protect our marine life.
They are setting the example for their guests by not using styrofoam and non-recyclable products, not offering plastic bags, and paper straws are only upon request. They are using reusable silverware for onsite dining and eco-friendly to-go ware upon request. They also have vegan and vegetarian options! They follow proper recycling practices, water conservation efforts and assisting with local initiatives to bring composting to the area. They are currently switching all from all plastic beverage bottles to paper and cans!
